My computer began an endless loop of resarting and the
emergency repair didn't work, and now it kicks out of
windows install to reboot. Any ideas what could be causing
this to happen?

Thanks
Aaron

Are you trying to start a new install? To do a clean install, either boot
the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup disks. The set of four install
disks can be created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk
directory on the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe
(from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Thats what I'm trying to do but it won't get that far into
the install. It doesn't even completely load the install
before it restarts. Would it be possible to put the hard
drive in another machine reinstall windows and then put it
back in the original machine, will that work? Thanks for
your help on this issue.

Aaron

Probably not possible. Exactly what point does it restart? Are you booting
the CD-Rom or setup disks?

I've tried booting from both, usually it won't even boot
from the CD-ROM. It restarts when it is checking the
hardware configuration, while its still in DOS and hasn't
entered the setup yet.

Thanks
Aaron

Sounds like some hardware has failed. Does it make it through POST? You
might check the mb manual for some possible diagnostics procedures.

Actually any of it. Check the mb manual for some possible diagnostics
procedures and or remove all non-essential hardware and try the install
again.

A bad motherboard will do it.
