Hi. Just installed Vista this weekend. I may be missing something obvious but
I would have thought if I set a birthday for someone in Windows Contacts that
an entry for it would automatically be added to Windows Calendar. Is this
something that can't be done? Thanks.

Hello,

I recommend using Windows Live Mail Desktop beta, this program has this
feature built into it, as it utilizes Windows Live Contacts / Windows Live
Messenger, so you can have this functionality.

To answer your question....NO. They are 2 separate programs Maybe
Microsoft will get us an update / patch to do this simple task.

The good news is that anything you do set in Windows Calendar will remind
you automatically even if you do not have the Calendar running.

I have set up a SEPARATE calendar called BIRTHDAYS so I can view my master
calendar with these dates turned on or off as needed. You can also set up
the birthday as an ANNUAL appointment.

Good luck...

Chris...

Thanks Chris, I thought as much. Seems a bit odd that it wasn't obvious
enough to include.

And cheers for the additional tip. That's useful to know :)

Why? Same programming team. And it has at least as many bugs ass Windows
Mail. You can't use its contacts or calendar if you're offline. More space
wasted on screen. Toolbar is not customizable. I guess you can tell I
really don't like it.
