I recently upgraded my windows 98 to windows xp pro at my office. Everything was working ok until i used the network wizard to detect a connection to my company server and gain access to the shared drives. After network wizard detected all of the settings it told me to restart my computer after restarting my computer when the logon screen appeared i entered my username and password and this message came up. "Logon Message: The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name and domain are correct, then type your password again. Letters in the passwords must be typed using the correct case." I have tried to restore windows to the last settings but that doesnt work. I also noticed that after i restarted the pop down screen which originally contained places to imput your User:, Password:, and Domain: information now only consist of User:, and Password: so the space for Domain: is no longer there. I have tried everything i can think of but i am unable to logon to windows and am now stuck at the logon screen and can get no further. I tried to reinstall windows 98 which worked ok but i cant reinstall xp without formatting my c: drive which i dont want to do because i have alot of files that i need on it. Is there any way of getting around the logon screen or to reinstall windows xp without losing all of my information? Please Help.
