Hi,

I have a couple of questions:

If an application is built for PocketPC2k3 devices, will it work on
WindowsCE 4.2 and/or WindowsCE 4.1 devices ?

What are the differences between the 3 ?

Thanks,

Hi

If we are talking about blind dlls then there is no difference...

For GUI apps you will need to design the apps differently for CE or
PocketPC... The main differences are in full screen forms versus floating
dialogs, the toolbar, and the menus (context and main)... Add to that the
physical screen size and the resolution are bound to be different and you
can see why I think you'll need to target them separately...

4.1 vs 4.2: little difference but don't assume it will work on both exactly
the same way... testing is needed cause some small differences do exist...

My £0.02

to release of CE 4.2)

Pam,

Actually it's sort of the other way around. PocketPC 2003 is based on CE 4.2 but
they are not equivalent. What you get on a CE device depends on what the
manufacturer chooses to install. PocketPC is more standard but has additional
features that aren't found on plain CE devices.
