Windows cannot load the users profile

S

Scot

I recently intalled some critical updates via Windows
update.

After I rebooted, a dialog box with a 30 second countdown
timer comes up stating:

"Windows cannot load the users profile but has logged you
on with the default profile for the system.

Detail - Incorrect Function

The closest KB article I found on this was #246936, but it
does not address the same detail.

After the countdown, the logon proceeds and it seems like
I am logged on with my profile, but I am not sure how to
tell for sure. The computer in question is setup to login
to a domain with Win2K Servers and Active Directory.

Are there additional messages in the event log that might indicate what the
problem is? Is Service Pack 4 loaded on your machine?
