Windows Automatic Updates

Like others, I have a computer which will not switch off because of these
Updates. I am also left with 'Installing Updates 1 to 3 - do not turn off'.
After 4 hours, I had to crash out. This has now happened again.
Can anyone explain what is happening, and what can be done about it, as this
cannot be allowed to continue. Many thanks.
 
End the process via the Task Manager and then disable Auto Downloads......

How do I get to Task Manager when it is in Turn Off window and is showing
"installing updates 1-3?
