Windows (Auto) Update (server?) question

Greetings:

I need a little basic information about using the Windows Update
Service for a win2K network.

Question: Can we set up a local server that has 'net access to serve
the updates to the local systems ( Some of the local systems are
behind a firewall and can't see the 'net). If so, does the serving
machine need to be win2K server or can we use a win2K pro machine as
this local update server ? Does the WU server software it need to
run via IIS or will shares do ?

Can the process of downloading the updates from MS be (easily)
automated so that no user intervention is required to keep the
server updated - or will we need someone to manually download
updates to the local server as issued from MS ?

Thanks,

Only the server needs Internet access to download the updates. Win2k server
(not running active directory). It runs IIS as it is completely web
administered.

Yes. You can automate the entire thing but you may want to "approve" the
updates before roll them out untest across the network.
