Windows Authentication Problem

Ok I think this is an IE problem, so I posted it here, Let me know if you
think diffrently.

Problem: Internet Explorer (6, fully updated and patched) is passing the
incorrect Username and password to a Sharepoint site. This problem started
when a fellow worker was using that particular workstation and needed a file
from Sharepoint, which was not allowed by that particular user. When prompted
for a password he put his name and password in. This worked fine, but now
even after restart, his password and username are passed instead of the
actual logged on user.

Software: Windows XP SP2 (fully updated), IE6 (Fully Updated), WSS 2.0

I have attempted to recreate this problem on other machines to no avail,
when IE is closed, the entered username and password are gone, and login is
through the correct user.

I have attempted to clear temp files, cookies, even dns cache.

Does anyone know what may be wrong, where this might be cached, how a
diffrent login is being passed through authentication. I need to fix this as
it is of course on the Owners computer!

Try using PSPV (from NirSoft) and/or RegMon (from SysInternals.)

The two apps showed nothing out of the ordinary. In addition, I attempted an
install of IE7 - same problem. Uninstalled IE7, same problem. If I check
"prompt for username and password" in intranet advanced settings on
Security>Local intranet>custom settings>user authentication, I can put in the
correct username, but If I enable "automatic login on Intranet only" or
"automatic login using current user settings" it logs on with the wrong
person.
