Confused

I had a problem the other day with my laptop. Copy and
Paste would not work. Then suddenly Internet Explorer
crashed. Since then I can no longer open Windows
Explorer OR Internet Explorer.

When I try to open Windows Explorer I get
a 'SysFader:Application error' message which says:
"The insruction at "..." referenced memory at "....".
The memory could not be "written"

When I try to open Internet Explorer, I get a message
saying that there is a problem and Microsoft should be
sent the Error Report.

I cannot access the Control Panel either. It gives me an
error message saying that there is a problem with Internet
Explorer

I turned on my laptop last night in Safe Mode and I was
able to open Windows Explorer and Control Panel .. I
presumed the problem was with IE and so I opened
Add/Remove Programs, selected Internet Explorer and
chose the "repair" option. This didn't help so I then
tried to revert back to the older installation of IE -
this didn't work either and now Explorer will not even
work in Safe Mode anymore !!

I was then told to try and run the System File Checker
because I probably had some corrupt files and I needed to
verify
the integrity of my system files

I typed 'sfc /scannow' in the Start/Run box, but when I
tried to run it I got a
message saying that some type library could not be found
and therefore this program could not be run.

Is there anything else I can do to check the integrity of
my files ?
