Windows 98SE vs XP Pro

Right now I cannot open Outlook Express for email. I had it open earlier, but now it simply won't open. In Windows98SE, I could do Cntl + Alt + Del, and a window would open showing me the programs that were running. In which case it would show Outlook Express as "Not responding" and I could just click "End task". Then a new copy would open after clicking the icon again. However in XP, it brings up the Task Manager and does not show me which programs have problems. So I have to go offline, and restart the computer to get Outlook Express back working.
I also have a problem with a font. The font I want is not in the fonts folder. FlamencoD, which is ALWAYS in Windows fonts. So I got it from elsewhere and tried to install it. When I do, the message says the font is already there and I need to UNinstall it before installing the new version. However, it is NOT there so I cannot UNinstall it.
This is crappy if you ask me. So far, XP Professional is a waste of time and effort compared to what I was using. Sure you can make movies etc, but for regular work I am getting little out of it.

Masalla,

I have been using 98SE for about 5 years and just did a upgrade to XP
Home. Rather than loose everything on my C: drive which had plenty of room I
decided to put XP on my D: drive which had 40GB free and then have a dual
boot. I have spent the last 6 days trying to get XP working properly and it
fouled up my e-mail files on 98SE Outlook Express. I decided that XP did not
run any faster than 98SE and all kinds of problems with, especially programs
that I had on 98SE that worked great and would not work on XP (they were all
specified as working on 95 through XP). Finally I decided that XP was a toy
for the kids and users that just wanted to explore the web sites, not a
serious working computer, especially with no workable DOS in XP.
I decided to go back to 98SE and consider that I just wasted $100. MS
has got that so you cannot get rid of it. Yes, I tried to get it off the D:
drive using all their tip in the knowledge base like OSUNINST.EXE which
wouldn't work either.
I outsmarted MS by making a IMAGE of both my C: and D: drives before
ever putting XP into my system.
Finally formatted both drives and booted up with my rescue floppy and
re-instated everything back to before I ever touched XP with the IMAGE of
both drives.
You may thing I don't know much about computers but I have been
programming them since late 80's with BASIC, VISUAL BASIC, C++, DOS and MS
assembler.
I'll stick with 98SE until there are no computers left to run it and
then look for new OS.
XP is a joke.
