Frustrated

I have a Windows 98 laptop that I want to connect to a
Windows XP desktop via a RS-232C serial cable. The help
topic says that the two computers need to share a
protocol, but they have none that are the same. Can I
download new protocols? How can I connect these
computers?

Thanks for your help.

Windows 98 and XP have these common protocols: TCP/IP, NetBEUI, and
IPX/SPX.
