Self explanatory. Just about every tiem I shut down/restart my 98 machine, It
hangs at " Windows 98 is shutting down" and nothing happens. I have to
manually hit the restart button on the computer. Nothing gets lost or hurt,
it's just a nuisance

Wrong News Group. This is a WinXP support group, not Win98.

You want; microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion

Please post Windows 98 questions in a WIndows 98 newsgroup. This is a
Windows XP newsgroup.

Except for Why you'd post a Win98 question in a newsgroup dedicated to
Windows XP..... ;-}

Instead of telling you that you are in the wrong NG, I will
tell you to upgrade the OS

XP is NOT an upgrade to win98. It's simply a different OS.

Run msconfig/startup. Disable the lot. Try again. It will most likely
shut down properly now. Then, re-enable startups a few at a time to find
out which is causing your niggle.
