Windows 98 SE Lockups

Is there anything that can be done with IE6 continiously
locking up on a machine running 98 SE? Or do I have to
remove IE6 and find IE5.5 somewhere and install it?

If you mean that IE freezes your machine's screen where you can only reboot by the reset or power button...

Screen freezes with IE are most commonly caused by video drivers that need updating. Go to the web site of your video card manufacturer and get the latest drivers for your card. As a work around, try turning down your hardware acceleration, color depth, and/or screen resolution. If these work, then new drivers are in order.

Other causes are scripting engines that need reinstalled or updated: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp
Or the Java VM: http://download.windowsupdate.com/m...l/MSJavWU_8073687b82d41db93f4c2a04af2b34d.exe

And, if you are using a McAfee anti-virus program, and it's set to scan all files, try changing it to scan programs and documents only.
