I have ME software in my computer and am writing a book
using Microsoft Word 2000. I have my documents on floppy
disc's but I am unable to open them in my Sister computer
which has Window 98.

I also have tried my Brother in Laws computer which has
Windows 98 with MS Works. When I insert the disc (Floppy)
I get a prompt for me to enter my verification number (25
digits). That information is on my computer in WI and I
am in CA.

I guess my question is; Is not Windows 98 software
compatible with ME software?

That is probably due to a hardware problem. I would also recommend
transferring files from the floppy to the HDD before opening them to
minimize risk of corrupting both files and disk.

I don't know what sort of verification prompt you are getting, b ut it would
not be for YOUR details, but for the software already on the computer. Does
your b-i-l have Word installed?

There is very little difference, but I don't think you are seeing any 98/ME
issues.
