is there really any point going from vista to windows 7

Alot of people are still happy with windows xp.

Don,t really like vista me but it,s better than windows 98,me,2000 ,lol

Maybe MS could drop the price down on windows 7.

Where can you download the beta version for windows 7?

If you don't play games there are plenty of viable options to Windows products now.

Early indications would suggest there are many reasons to change to 7 from Vista but those reasons can be summed up thus: 'It's better'.

Apart from financial considerations of course.

They are, aren't they?

My mate is still happy with his 1981 Citroen BX as well.

I suppose if it does all they want it to do it probably seems like it's not worth changing.

Ya might not like Vista, but W7 is something else for sure, so much better...

Well I have a free upgrade so I will try W7 in the future  if I dont like it out it will go:D

I've just been reading a computer mag and it says W7 is a really great product and that the beta is almost the finished version. They also say it's much better for less powerful machines and would be worth installing on netbooks.

Right now I am using XP on a desktop (gaming, photoediting) and a work laptop, and Ubuntu 8.04 on a secondary desktop. Of all the OSs I've used, I still like XP Pro SP3 the best.

I am looking forward to getting W7 on my next laptop, to be purchased somewhere around December. I hope it's good and doesn't suffer from unexpected bugs. If it meets expectations, I'll get it for my next Jan desktop build too...XP is getting rather old now and although it's great, time to move on lol..

My Vista experience was primarily on my laptop (now running XP), and while it was okay, I didn't really miss it when I went back to XP; the performance boost from the same hardware on XP was a bit too much to ignore.

And there we have it, really, when all's said and done.

I did/do like Vista, actually prefer using it to XP now, but I've maintained all along it is slower, this cannot be denied, albeit not that much slower.

Between the Win7 Beta & RC1, I've been using 7 off and on for about a month. A couple weeks ago I dumped Vista to exclusively run 7. I prefer it to Vista hands down. Yes, XP is the old and reliable, using the least amount of resources, but I feel like MS did good with 7. Time will tell!
