As "leroy" mentioned Microsoft haven't created a Win 7 newsgroup.
A Win 7 group does exist, "alt.windows7.general" but a few loonies need
to be filtered out. If your ISP doesn't carry the group post back and I
or others will nominate free news servers who carry the newsgroup.

None on the Microsoft servers, which well, in another 2 mos. there will
be none on the Microsoft servers. Why don't you try reading the 100s of
other posts on the this subject? Oh wait, maybe the new MS forums would
be perfect for you, none of them read either and posts the same question
100 times even tho its been answered 100s of times before sometimes
within the last 30 min.

Try alt.windows7.general, which will NOT be found on this server. Try
aioe.org or eternal-september.org
 
Unfortunately alt.windows7.general is infested by the same w*nkers who made,
imo, MS decide to vacate newsgroups.

Nah, they had little to do with MS vacating newsgroups. It has to do
with the fact most of their users don't understand the concept of
newsgroups and could never find them.
