Hello all. I heard there is a way to enable a Windows 3.x
interface in Windows 2000. I've scrambled through the
resigry and found one folder in it called "Windows 3.1
Migration Status". Maybe this has to do something with
enabling a Windows 3.x interface? Plase reply. Thanks! :-

You can set the Reg_Sz string value of;
"Shell"="Explorer.exe"
to the full path of the program you wish to start by default.

something like
"Shell"="C:\winnt\system32\progman.exe"

found at
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

You may be able to define this per user at;
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Windows 3.11? I don't want the program thing to start
autmoagcly if you know what I mean. Thanks. Also, could
you plz make the steps more easy.

* Yes

I don't want the program thing to start
| autmoagcly if you know what I mean.
* AFAIK that's the only way.

Thanks. Also, could
| you plz make the steps more easy.
* Try creating a new user account and making the regedit for that user only.

Great, done the first step right where I get no Start bar.
Only problem I am having is I don't have the program
manger boot up :-(. I've followed the first step and
enter in the Shell exaclty : "Shell"="C:\winnt\system32
\progman.exe"
Then, I've rebooted Windows and the program manager did
not come up. I did not bother with the second step
because you did not tell me the exactly registry entry I
should modifty.
Thanks! :-)

Whooops, nm! I got it!! :-D
Very cool stuff I may add!
Ok, what tossed me off is the Quotes. You don't put
quotes in. So, with that Windows 2000 botted with program
manager easily.
Just have two more questions.
1. Where is the exact location of Date/Time located in
Windows 2000?
2. Where is the exact location of Display Propteries?

Need to know this so I can put it into program manager so
I could acess it easily.

Thanks Dave :-)

Probably in Control Panel but it's been a really long time since I've seen a
Win3.x interface.
