Windows 2k server and XP printer drivers?

I'm starting to add XP pro clients on my network. I have 5 Windows 2k servers
and one is sharing the printers. My XP clients won't work with the Wk2k
printer drivers, but I can't seem to add the XP drivers to the Windows 2k
server printer. There is an option to add different versions, but XP is not
listed. As a workaround I gave two of the XP clients local IP assignments and
loaded the drivers locally. How can I get this to work on the Windows 2k
server that is sharing them?

I stopped using "shared" printers because of that. I couldn't find a way to
*not* use the stupid "Wizard" so I couldn't stop it from trying to load the
driver from the 2000 server.

Now,...I always have network cards in my printers (or external adapters
attached to the printers) and the Clients access them directly by the
printer's IP#. However it is a hassle if you have to change the IP# of the
printer for some reason, then you have to adjust every machine for it.
There was a small addon from HP (but would work with any printer) that
allowed you to do that same thing with Win95/98 and NT4 which normally could
not use a TCP/IP Local Printer Port.

You can't add "uplevel" drivers on a downlevel Server. So as a workaround,
put the 2000 drive on a share and use the "have disk" option when installing
the printer.
