(1) How can I get Win2k Pro to allow users to connect remotely without using any 3rd part s/w etc. PCAnywhere and no File Server involved?

(2) WinXP allows an high-speed Internet connection creation using broadband that requires a user name & pwd (PPPoE); can I do this using win2k Pro?

Thanks.

You can allow W2K Pro to act as a vpn server, but for only one connection at a time
as described below.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;257333

To allow more users [up to ten to access file shares at a time] you could use an
vpn/ipsec endpoint device but it would require remote users to have compatible client
vpn software installed.

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=33-122-007&depa=5 --- vpn
endpoint nat/router. Netgear offers vpn client software.

I suggest that you do not use pppoe to connect directly to a computer. It can be done
for W2K also but the nat/router devices are so much easier to configure and offer
basic nat/router protection from inbound access attacks and have a built in switch
for internet access to multiple computers. --- Steve

Thanks.

If you want to do the same as with XP I think you must
load Windows Terminal Server for the same remote use as
Windows XP....
