has anyone here tried it?
what are your opinions?

could someone please check what is the bare minimum ram footprint that this
thing has (all services but minimum net client disabled)

thanks

It's a great system. Includes a lot of improvements and many new features
(including an almost complete re-write of IIS)

I can't tell you the bare minimum because I have lots of services running on
all of the machines that I have running 2003. You can always pick up a
trial and pick it apart to your likings ;-)

Only reply by newsgroup. Any emails I have not authorized are deleted
before I see them.

I also forgot to mention that the Windows Server 2003 newsgroups are now at
Microsoft's unified server groups, microsoft.public.windows.server.*

i might as well check it out on a new partition

thanks y'all

I have installed it on a machine with 128Mb and I believe that's the minimum
supported RAM configuration. In actual fact, it ran quite smoothly and was
fine for test purposes.

The aim for Windows Server 2003 is that things are turned off by default and
you have to turn them on if you want to use them. Therefore your statement
about "all services" is a bit of a difficult one to answer. Certainly, it
will run well enough for you to test in 128Mb with the default services
enabled.

My opinion of Windows Server 2003 is that it's a good product.

Regards

Oli
