Hi Everybody,

a very quick and simple question.

Does Windows 2003 Std Editon support Boot from SAN feauters ? I read also
from MS web site that this version doesn't support "memory hot add", it means
that I can't replace a memory without shutdown the server. Is it correct ?

I need to clearify these my doubt because I'm going to design an
architecture based on Exchange 2003 Ent mailbox server (not in cluster )with
a DR capabilities where these server will boot from a EMC DMX SAN .

Thanks,

Rgds

Windows 2003 Standard Edition will support booting from SAN but it will
not support hot-add memory, you will need Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
or more for that particular feature.

Really, you should discuss this closely with your hardware suppliers,
while the operating system has to support the ability to boot from SAN
or hot add memory, more important yet, the hardware must support it.
These issues are quite complex and should be tackled by experienced
network and hardware engineers. Only the (reputable) hardware
manufacturer that you select can give you assurances that what you want
and need will work. These can confirm your doubts:

Support for booting from a Storage Area Network (SAN)

Also, for Enterprise and Datacenter Server Editions I beleive that you
can call Microsoft and get pre-sale technical support.
