Hi, We recently bought a Windows 2003 Server machine for
hosting our Oracle 9i database server. We joined it to our
domain controller which is an Windows 2000 Professional
Server. The W2K machine also serves as an DNS Server along
with our Dell ISP DNS Server. The problem we are having is
that The Network Neighborhood browser is only showing 60 %
of the computers in our domain. All the computers are on
the same subnet. We can succesfully ping all the computers
in our domain. But when we try to map an network drive to
some of the computers using the TCP/IP address,
(i.e //192.168.1.150/vision), we get the error
message , "The drive could not be mapped because no
network was found". Has anyone seen this problem or know
how to resolve it. Thank you and best wishes for a Happy
New Year.

I just solved this problem. Basically you have to use browstat and netdiag to determine if your Windows 2003 machine has an NetBT transport currently configured. In my case, our windows 2003 machine did NOT, so it could not exchange information with our W2000 primary domain controller. As a result , our W2003 Server My Network Places was not displaying all the computers on our domain. If you need to quickly fix this problem, then go to a Windows XP Professional machine and export the registry entry for the NetBT transport. Next, import this registry entry into your Windows 2003 Server registry. Everything should now work. I think I'll go out and celebrate tonight . By the way, has anyone developed a C# Web Service that can invoke an method on a DCOM/COM+ object? I'm currently working on a project to accomplish this and I am wondering whether I should use early binding or late binding? Thank you and Happy New Year!
