Hi there,

I've installed one DC in a new forest and the install wizard created and
configured DNS for me on this server - everything ok. On a second server, i
ran dcpromo to make it a DC. My question is how do i install DNS on this
server and how to I configure it to hold a copy of the zone that is on the
first server. I installed DNS on the second server, but he create new zone
wizard is asking if i want to create a new primary zone, or seconday etc. I
think i'm missing something obvious....

Any pointers?

Thanks

dave

Don't create it as a Primary -- either AD-integrated if you can
or a secondary. You don't want to have two Primaries or a
Primary/AD-integrated in a single, internal Zone -- they would
never replicate.

I was nearly certain you get all three choices on a DC so I am
a little worried you don't have THIS machine setup as a DC yet.

Thanks for the reply herb. When you say "create that zone" should I create
it as a primary or secondary? I'm just a bit confused as I thought as the
zone has already been created in AD i thought it should just appear on the
other DCs with DNS installed. The options i've got for creating a new zone
on the secondary server are primary (ad integrated) or secondary etc.
