Hello,

Server A - Windows 2000 Server, ADS, Domain Controller, Schema Master
(Domain - abcd.org)
Server B - Windows 2003 Enterprise Server

I would like to make ServerB the Domain Controller + Schema Master of the
above domain (abcd.org).

Can Server A share ADS resources with Server B (I currently have 8 public
queues [MSMQ] using ADS in Server A, which I would like to be active if
either Server A or Server B goes down)

I don't want to upgrade Server A to Windows 2003 [Planning to make this
machine an IIS 5.0 Web server]

I am a newbie to this ADS stuff (Basically I am a Web Developer)

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks in advance

You need to run adprep
(https://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?
url=/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/proddocs/datace
nter/adprep.asp) on the 2000 DC before you can dcpromo
the 2003 box. You will then be running Active Directory,
after the dcpromo, in Mixed mode, which is default.
meaning you have 2000 and 2003 DCs. You can then use
ntdsutil
(https://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?
url=/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/proddocs/datace
nter/ntdsutil.asp) on either DC to transfer any of the 5
FMSO roles between DC's.
Hope this helps.
