Hellow everyone,

We (newbies) are trying to setup a Win2k3 Active Directory (AD) on
our local lan. Thus far we have successfully installed the AD and other
related components. And are also able to allow client machines to login
to the Domain.

The problem is, all the client machines are pre-installed with
bunch of applications. Some of these applications need administrator
privilages to run. So when a client logs in to the domain from his/her
machine they are not able to run the applications which require admin.
privilages. At this point it is not feasiable to re-install the client
machine. I would greatly appreciate if anyone of can guide us in proper
directions.

thank you all in advance,
BI

I ran into the same problem a little bit ago. The company i was
supporting at the time had a database app that would only run under
admin. It was 3am and everything needed to work by 8, so my solution
was to just add the users that will be using the app to the local admin
group on the machines that will be used. This still protects the domain
but does decrease security locally.

anyone have better solutions?

Yosef

Thank you Yousef,

Thats what I am leaning towards. Even my newsgroup search is indicating
the same answer. Does, anyone have run into problems or headaches with this
solution? It would really helpful to hear about your experiences.

thanks,
BI
