Bob

My computer has Windows XP home edition. I have some
problems with it. Can I load windows 2000 over Windows
XP or do I have Fdisk and start all over again.
Thanks

Do you have installed the service pack for your XP Home? XP is better than
Win 2000
What is your problem?

Patty

If you have a copy PartitionMagic, partition your hard,
make it active and then install your win2000 pro on that
partition. After that restore copy ntkernel, ntdetect to
boot primary boot partition from XP CD. Look around KB on
MS website. There there should be a way to do that without
having to butcher XP home. Not sure if it works, though,
because possible that XP home works different miracle from
XP pro. Also it is only worthy of trying if you want to
pursue multiple boot system, or just go right ahead and
wack the XP home off hard drive and load win2000 pro. No
need to use fdisk when installing win2000, or XP. You'll
get all options, including partitioning hard drive, during
installation process. Besides, win2000 pro will find
fdisked partition damaged and ask you repartition and
format it, sometimes.

Cheers,
Sam
