My daughter runs Win. 2000 and received a notice that she
needed an upgrade, she said go ahead and then was told to
restart computer. When she did so it froze at the password
window, nothing seems to help, if she reboots and types in
her password it tells her "This computer is locked."
Thanks for any advice anyone can give.

Any idea what upgrades she applied? Did the upgrade come in email or
from the official M$ website?

You got the W32.Swen.A@mm virus. Read up at an antivirus
site. Anyone that posts a real email address on here gets
a fake email, microsoft doesn't send attachments, with the
virus.
