Hi there,

I was wondering if someone had found the solution to this strange
problem. I have been struggling with an install of Windows 2000 to the
SATA drive. Everything is great until the drive finishes it's
formatting. It finishes at 100% and doesn't go any further as it just
becomes hung up..... I reboot and try to do an complete an
installation but the system reports that the drive is either damaged
and / or that it needs formatting.

I installed XP Home and DID NOT have this problem. Unfortunately this
system HAS to have Windows 2000 installed on it......

Any suggestions ???

Thanks,

FC

-Booting to the Win2k CD
-F6 to use Raid driver from MOBO CD
-Format drive to 100%
-Left hanging there.......

try booting from a floppy and formatting from it, then installing Win2K.

As you said in your email, I had similar problems. After much
back-and-forth with Tech support in Cal., I sent the board to them.
They tested and said the board was OK, but sent me a new one anyway.
It was better. I got Win98 to install but still had trouble similar
to yours witn 2000. In addition, under 98, MediaPlayer 9 played
audio with a skipping problem. Again went to tech support and didn't
get any immediate solution.

I have been messing with this board off-and-on since late November,
and had to have the system up soon, so I broke down and ordered an
Abit AN7(same chipset, so that clears one source of trouble.).
Installed, and loaded 2000 without problems.

I still haven't decided if I'll give Albatron another chance or send
the board back (I know - fat chance)

Phil
