I was trying to reinstall Win 2000 upgrade on my machine. I was unable to get
the disk to go through install. I looked at the disk and there seemed to be
small pits on it. Can I get another disk from Microsoft?

I doubt it but this article may help. Your best bet might be ebay or
borrow one (using your product key).

How and When to Contact Microsoft Customer Service

...borrowing one will require the same licensing -- OEM to OEM or Retail
to Retail

If you're able to save \I386\SETUPP.INI from the original CD that you
have, copy it and replace it in the "borrowed" CD -- that should get you
to the point of a usable system. Burning a new CD is required, and
unless you purposely make it bootable, you won't be able to boot from it
(boot floppies will work).

Suggestion:
If you already have a copy of the I386 folder on the hard disk.
combine that with the extra fluff on the CD to compile a new one.
Slipstream SP4, SRP1, and the Windows Installer Update KB893803 Since
MS has stopped making SPs and now only are doing hotfixes, that CD will
probably be the last Win2000 Installer CD you create. nLite can do a
good job of all of this above, but feels excessive to me, especially all
it does to slipstream is add a command line paramater to all the SPs
hotfixes etc.

Good luck.

Try hfslip, a 170kb cmd script that does the slipstreaming without the
many options of nLite.

Search on my name (Blithe) for my same question under a different thread.
Here's the solution I found. Hopefully it's still available & at a very
affordable price

I did find an alternate MS customer
service link that took my order for a replacement W2K Pro CD --- at:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=gp;[ln];csshome

I did need the specific product number as a prerequisite which, fortunately,
I remembered is posted on the General Tab of Properties that's accessible
when you right click the My Computer icon.
