I have one laptop with windows 2000 (SP4) and for home networking purposes
would like to upgrade it to XP if possible and make it my ICS host for a
newer Laptop (XP) & my wife's desktop (XP). Is this upgrade possible?

Yes, this is a supported path. However, I wonder why you would
want to do this. Most of the core features of WinXP are already
present in Win2000. You may get a warm feeling after the upgrade
but not much more. Unless you have at least 256 MBytes of RAM,
the machine will actually run slower. WinXP will certainly require
a lot more disk space.

You can upgrade Win2K to XP, but you must use XP Pro to upgrade. XP Home
will not upgrade Win2K.

My XP disc is only an upgrade not the full program. My reason being there are
more support downloads for XP than for 2000. Does this make sense?

Unless the setup or program checks closely, most XP programs will also
work in 2000. In fact, Win2K reports itself as Windows 5.0. XP reports
itself as Windows 5.1.
