Whenever I try to perform the IE 6.0 update, I get the
following error message...

Setup cannot copy the file Iesetup.inf.

The directory name is invalid. (error #267).

I have tried moving the file to the C:\ directory and
still the error remains...any suggestions?

Corrupt File Download the update manualy not through
windowsupdate then verify hdd space and clean out your
tempory files either under winnt and/or documents and
settings (recommended to do the disk cleanup util)

I ran the disk cleanup wizard and downloaded
the 'ie6setup.exe' file. Tried to install it and still
got the same error message.

Error message states...

Setup cannot copy the file Iesetup.inf.

The directory name is inivalid (error #267).
Source: C:\DOCUME~1\karlr\LOCALS~1
\Temp\IXP000.TMP\Iesetup.inf
Destination: C:\WINNT\INF\Iesetup.inf

Any further suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
KarlR

Have you verified the permissions on the inf folder. Make
sure you have access to this folder, the permissions could
be wrong. This would be the obvious thing to do but I
thought I would mention it just in case.

I have attempted to locate the file in question manually,
however, the IXP000.TMP directory specified within the
error message cannot be found.

I have tried to manually specify the path to the
Ie6setup.inf file, but I still get the same error message.

Any suggestions?

KarlR
