windows 2000 update option disbaled

the windows 2000 automatic update option is not active in
my system.
I can manually go and update the files but this requires
time and i am concerned about the crucial patches..Please
guide me as to how to activate the windows update option

Automatic update is not working properly in my case also.
Everything in the procedure goes fine but in the end for
selected files- message comes that could not upload-
please try reinstalling. It is a great irritant to do it
all manually from separate links. Any idea as to how it
has stopped working on its own like this?
