Thanks for your help before guys it was much
appreciated. I now have a new error msg when trying to
connect to the win2000 machine from the xp machine.

"\\win2000machine is not accessible. you might not have
permission to use this network resource. contact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions.

The server is not configured for transactions."

I'm trying to set up a peer-to-peer network and am unsure
why it is refering to a server. I have set up user
profiles on both computers that have identical user names
and passwords.

I'm stuck.
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

Are you using hibernation on Win2k and dynamic ip addresses? I had similar
case than yours. WinXP couldn't always acceess Win2k and that happened if
win2k was restored from hibernation. Rebooting win2k solved problem
temporarily. I think my problems disapeared after defining static ip
addresses to both machines. I've also applied service pack 4 to Win2k, so
I'm not absolutely sure what has hepled me to get rid of that problem. For
me it seems like Win2k has or had problems with hibernation support and
dynamic ip addresses.
