I'm working with a developers laptop which is a IBM T-23.
This system has a 17.7 GB hard drive and 512 memory
installed. 7.81 GB is being used on the hard drive. The
problem is that it takes anywhere from two to three
minutes to boot. What can I do to speed up the boot
process?

I would say that is not that bad. Looking on the web it is a (max) 1.4 meg
processor? 2 - 3 minutes before the hour glass goes away? usual things,
check antivirus and stop all unnessesary items running at boot like
realplayer or quicktime etc.
