I have three computers that I have been trying to install
SP4 on for a month. When I run the service pack, the
install windows comes up and as soon as you hit next it
disappears. Once it has done that, there are no traces of
it running in task manager. I have scaned for viruses and
reviewed the registry but still can not find the culprit.
Any help would be HIGHLY appreciated!

Interesting! Logged in as admin? enough disk space? From what media are
you installing it, a cd? Maybe try copying to the hard drive first, then
installing it from there. maybe bad media?

Logged in as admin, plenty of disk space, installing from
local hard drive. Hard drive and DDR tested OK. Any other
ideas?

Thanks,

You have not been able to install it on any computers, correct? or is it
working on some computers but not these three? If it is not working on any,
I would suggest a bad installation file. Maybe download a fresh copy from
Microsoft.
If it's just those three, is there anything unusal in the event logs?

Worked on several other systems. Nothing weird in the
events logs. No updates will install, sometimes I get
a "update.exe has generated an error".
Thanks,
