Hi All;
My Windows 2K SP4 update from SP3 fails with the
following message:

An error in updating your system has occurred.

Select 'OK' to undo the changes that have been made, or
select 'Cancel' to quit. If you select 'Cancel', your
system will be left in a partially updated state and may
not work correctly.

I have searched technet for similar problems, and
confirm that I do not have Hummingbird NFS installed.

The update log file (svcpack.log) states that the
problem is inrunning one or more programs. See log
fragment below:

HELP!!

Finally someone who gets the same error as I do. I am
trying to figure out for a week now what the problem is.
Let me now if you hear anything regarding this problem.

Haje

1. Install the 802.1x update.
313664 Using 802.1x Authentication on Computers Running Windows 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=313664

2. Disable the network adapters that you arenot using in the BIOS.

3. Updated the PCI network adapter driver with a device driver from Windows
Update.

4. Install SP4

This seems to have resolved the issue in a few cases where the same error
code was being returned.

I'm getting the same exact thing. No answers out there yet :(

I too get this error when updating some of my servers. I am running on
Compaq Proliant DL 360 G2.

Have anyone reported this error to MS?

I disabled all Hummingbird NFS services, Norton antivirus services and
then installed Q313664, then I was able to install sp4. Before this I
just disabled all application services but it didn't work. I think
Q313664 helped.

Thanks,
Tiger
