We have several Windows 2000 servers that run ASP based applications.
Each of these applications uses the SMTP service provided by windows,
and each of these applications functioned correctly until our install
of Windows 2000 Service Pack 4. Now when the software attempts to
send email the following error appears in our event log:
Type: Warning
Source: smtpsvc
Category: None
EventID: 4000
Description:
Message deliver to the remote domain 'yahoo.com' failed for the
following reason: An internal DNS error caused a failure to find the
remote
server.
Data: (word) 0000: c00402e7
I assume that we need to perform some type of configuration to get the
SMTP service to work correctly. Note that the service still runs and
accepts requests to send email. However, it is incapable of actually
sending the email.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem and if so is there a way to
fix it?
Thanks,
Justin Ball
