I have one server in England which is setup with AD and another server in
Scotland. Do I need to set up AD on the server in Scotland or can I just
make it part of the domain in England. I am new to Windows 2000. Can anybody
advise me on the best possible solution to this kind of small setup. Thanks.

That depends on a few factors. Are there any users logging on in Scotland
and how fast is the link between the two servers?
If you have users in Scotland and a fast link between the two servers for
replication then install AD.
If there are no (or very few) users in Scotland or the link is very slow
then you probably don't need to bother.
The good news is that no matter what you decide it is very easy to change
your mind later and go with the other option instead.

I would recommend at least 2 domain controllers no matter where you decide
to put them. This will act as a natural, living back up of your domain.
Regardless of how you decide to proceed, here is an excellent resource on
brance office deployment. It may seem over whelming at first and there is
definitely a fairly steep learning curve for those new to Windows 2000
Active Directory, I think the time invested will pay off in the long run.

Hope this helps.
