Hello,
I have a Windows 2000 server acting as a PDC, with DNS and DHCP
installed on it.
There are 12 workstations from which 8 are Windows 98.
The problem is that often those 98-stations cannot logon to the domain,
but after a little while waiting, it will. It gives an error that the
user-name, password could be wrong or that the domain-controller cannot
be found.
I have tried a lot of things like making sure file-and printersharing is
on and used the Microsoft knowledgebase to adjust the LMHOSTS-files on
the workstations.
Also, I don't know if it's necessary, I recently installed WINS on the
server as well, hoping that would make a difference, though no entries
of computers appear in the WINS-config on the server, so it looks like
it's doing nothing.
The other computers on the network are XP-machines, and they don't seem
to have as much trouble, though two days ago, it didn't want to load the
batch-script for file-sharing on one of them (through active dir).
I have found more people having similar problems, though all the
solutions that were given didn't seem to work for me, hope someone can
help me,
Arno
