I am running into a strange server issue. This machine
has been working fine for quite a while now. Starting
last week, it has developed a major problem. This is
basically what is going on:

1. Websites cannot be loaded either by name or by IP. All
I get is the 'cannot find server or dns error' message.

2. I can ping by IP address but get 'unknown host' if I
try using the name.

3. I am unable to telnet or RDP to any server via name or
IP.

I have tried doing a repair on the 2000 installation with
no luck. Anyone have any ideas? Oh, and the server does
not run it's own DNS server.

Is this intranet or internet????

If it is internet, have you tried running a proxy with an
upstream DNS from your service provider???

If is is intranet, you have me stumped too.......

are you on a domain? what does an ipconfig /all produce? how about
nslookup and query your domain name?

You might try adding the dns names to the hosts file
specially if your using internal 10.x.x.x addressing NATED
to fixed ip addresses
