I am running a Win 2000 server with CA EZ Antivirus and a
Lotus Domino Web/Mail server. I have a situation where
the server will not log anyone on. All you get is a "No
domain server was available..." type message. I have
rebooted a couple of times, have run a full virus scan
(clean) and still cannot get anyone to log on. I have
even physically removed everyone from the network so that
only one PC and the server are connected and STILL cannot
log on.

This happened about 2 weeks ago as well and the
miraculously cleared up after about 3 days (why - I know
not).

Any suggestions? (I have an entire company down at
present)

Is the server and are the W2K/XP-clients fully patched?
How many nics in the server?
Does the ipconfig/all from the clients show that all is pointing to your
server-IP?

Do you have a W2K domain or a workgroup scenario? If you have a domain
environment is your server a Domain Controller or a member server and also
do you have an internal DNS server?

9 times out of 10, in a W2K/XP environment with a W2K domain these errors
revolve around failed DNS name resolution.
