Clients can just add a connection to the shared fax server
similar to you add a printer connection using 'Add
Printer'. This will install Shared Fax Service on Windows
2000 clients. If the clients are XP or Windows Server
2003, fax printer will be installed normally.
Once the fax printer is added, clients can do the faxing
by printing to the fax printer.
New Fax notifications are present on the server. Each
client will not be notified of the new fax. However using
APIs you can register for appropriate fax events. You can
then run this program that registered for new fax events
on all the clients. Clients with appropriate permissions
will get the events.
You could look at COM interfaces (on Windows 2000) or the
extended COM
interfaces for Windows XP and above.
