I recently installed and configured a Windows 2000 Server for a client
with only 4 other PCs on the network. I setup the server as a DC with
Active Directory. I setup DNS and DHCP services. The workstations
now are pointing to the server as the DNS server. The problem is that
now Internet access is much slower than before. I experimented by
pointing the workstations to the external DNS servers and then the
Internet access began to work again at a much faster speed. However,
I need to be able to point the workstations to the server in order for
Windows 2000 server and Active Directory to work properly.
The DNS on the server is setup with forwarders and the users on the
network can access the Internet but it is very slow and I have not
been able to solve the issue. Has anyone seen this or does anyone
have any ideas as to resolve this issue? Any response would be
appreciated.
