windows 2000 server critical behaviour

My machine is not reponding properly. if i open an application, freeze for 10
sec and open. even if i open it subsequently freezing is continuing and my
machine is going under critical behavioural manner.

"memory could not be read" error is coming frequently and application is
closing

Hardware Specification
Intel p4 3.06ghz at/at compatible
1GB Ram

I am suspecting that virus may affected my system.
I am using office scan virus scan software. but it is telling like no virus
found.

I downloaded "Windows-KB890830-V1.36.exe" from microsoft and scanned my
system. it is also telling like no virus found.

suggest me.

Hello Nandhu,

Any errors in the event viewer during the time when it happens? What kind
of application is it, always the same or different? Will the server be accessed
remotely? Member server, Terminal server or Domain controller?
