I have one server with windows 2000 SBS with 15 users in active
directory, with disks in raid 5, tape for backup.
I have another server with dual boot, in Windows XP he backup all data to
the disk of windows 2000 server (backserver) in the some places that the
server had this data.

This backserver have all the configurations of network, users and programs
of the server in use.
The backserver only start when the server is down.

My question Is?
Could I validate the users when backserver is up, or should I pass them to
workgroup and then to domain again?
If the backserver has the same name, domain, IP of the server, the users
will logon without problems?

Is the backup server in the same domain as the first server?

It actually has to be joined to the same domain as the first server. Just
having the name and IP as the first server will not do. If they are in two
separate domains, it's really not doing you any good. Way too much work to
get your clients working if the first DC goes down.

Usually, you would put both servers in the same domain. If one goes down you
can provide service with the other until the first is brought back on line.
