Ok this incident is very embarrassing. I have lost my password to access my
Windows 2000 system. Is there
a way per chance to recover this information? An alternate
way to access Windows?

Any help would be appreciated. I want to avoid the issue
of having to reinstall this instance.

Thank you,

The usual way is to log on with the secondary admin
account and then to reset the password of the first one.

Well in this case. Would there be a default password for "Administrator"
I did not set this during the initial setup,

Win2K asks for the Administrator's password to be designated
during installation. If none was selected, it may still be blank.

I checked to see if I did initially set a password for Administrator. If I
did, I am unsure what I set it to, since this version of windows I am
speaking of is my VM test machine.

I was not too worried about the password and created one i would remember
easily. Well turns out that easy password I picked is becoming a headache.
Is there any way I could possibly boot into dos from safe mode and edit the
security settings from there and reset my passwords? or is there an
alternate way of going by this "Besides" reinstalling windows and "all" my
service packs.

If anyone knows of an advanced way to do this I could accomplish this
easily. I am quite
good with code. or setup a boot disk of some sort.

Also, Arild, thanks for the reply but it does not help me with what I am
looking for.

Thanks again,

The embarassing bit actually happened when you set up your
machine. When you get a new car you INSIST on getting at
least two keys. What about admin accounts on Win2000?
Just one, with no record of the password? Here is a link to
a disk that will let you reset your admin password. It looks
scary but it works.

Thank you guys.

I got my machine back up and running.
Very good references I may add.
