I have been using AntiSpyware Beta 1 for a couple of months on Windows 2000,
and just tried updating to "Defender". When I try to install Defender, I get
an error dialog saying "This software requires GDI+. Please load the Windows
2000 Security Software PreRequisite Pack." The OK button is my only option.
I am running service pack 4 and have the latest updates from the Windows
Update site. I have also tried disabling my antivirus software, but still no
joy. I have run the Microsoft GDI tool and it returns nothing (no message,
no display, no finsh dialog, literally nothing, which I assume means it
didn't find anything on my hard drive to report). Anybody know what the
problem might be?

I have the same problem as you. And no reply nowhere...Even google doesn't
know this problem...
Even with the GDI+ Tool detection installed, this message stay...
Windows 2000 = BAD GUY !!! :-p

HEEEEELP !!!!!

I was getting the same error as 'skerdoba' and downloading GDI+ pack from
this link fixed the problem.

thx

You're welcome. Some Windows 2000 systems will have this code in place--not
sure what it comes with--but if it isn't there, you need that download.

If you have the gdi+ dll file in the correct location, you should not get
that message.

The most likely explanation is that the file is not in the correct location.

It needs to be in the system32 subdirectory of the Windows install you are
running.
this can be /windows or /winnt or some arbitrary name chosen at install time
I believe. And the drive letter may not be C in all cases.
