I installed RIS on a Windows 2000 box as per the Resource
Kit. I created a CD Image of Windows XP SP1. I
successfully installed a client PC with this image.

I then proceeded to put together my RIPREP image which
includes MS Office Acrobat Reader etc...

I ran Windows Update and patched my install.

When I run riprep.exe I get the exactly what is in this
article... http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=kb;en-us;262801&Product=win2000 Specifically

Missing CD Image

The server to which you chose to replicate this system
does not contain a CD-based image. The version of the CD-
based image on the server must match the version of the
system you are attempting to copy. Select a different
server or add a CD-based image to this server.

What am I doing wrong... Please advise.

Thanks in Advance
Martin

Hmm... this sounds familiar, I think there another version of riprep that
you need to use, I ahve two, one is v 5.2.3790.0 which is xp's one.

i'm fairly useless and can't remember where I got it from though! Sorry!

Have you installed a hotfix that updated the ntoskrnl.exe file? In
that case riprep will complain about missing image (same as if you
apply a service pack)

Q811493 updates the ntoskrnl.exe file, Do you have that update
installed?

The riprep utility checks that particluar file...

Do all the update execept the Roll Up package. This one
update changes the version of XP.

At this point I'm not sure on patching the CD Image with
this update. I usally do all but that one and just do
the last update after the Image.
