Windows 2000 restarts instead of shutting down???PLEASE HELP?

HI,
Can anyone help me with this problem...
When I attempt to shut down in windows 2000 safe mode or
any mode for that matter, the computer restarts. It is
really anoyying me and I find myself shutting down the
computer manually. Please help, thank you for your time.

There are a number of possible causes, but first check the most
obvious.. Look in your system bios for a setting called "power
loss management" or something to that effect. You should be
able to switch between "remain off" and "reboot", or sometimes
there is also a "standby" setting.
