Hi,

I recently uninstalled a video card and related drivers
so I could install a new Matrox card. According to the
instructions, Windows 2000 should have been able to
autodetect the new hardware upon boot up and prompt for
the new drivers.

However, Windows 2000 is now stuck in a reboot loop. I
can not boot in safe mode or any other mode. The system
gets as far as the Windows boot up screen then simply
reboots again and again.

I put the installation CD in the CD-Rom drive, booted
from it and tried to repair the installation but that did
not solve the problem.

I wish I could reformat and start again but I am not
familiar with how Windows 2000 works compared to 98 so I
can't even do that!

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Sincerely,
Doug Wong

If all other attempts fail & you're OK with a new installation do the
following:

1. Back up all your data on another partition.
2. Then access your BIOS & configure it to boot system up from CD-ROM
3. After that, insert the 2000 CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive, save the BIOS
settings and exit...the sytem will reboot...from the CD-ROM (provided
settings are OK & CD-ROM support boot up)!
4. Follow the instructions on the screen...NOTE: If you're sure you need
extra drivers for your board/hardware that have to be installed separatel;y
PRESS F6 very early during the first part of the setup...(very early during
the first blue Setup screen)!
5. Press ENTER when prompted to opt (3 choices: ENTER, ESC & F3)...then
press ESC when asked to recover/repair your current version...& setup will
go on...
6. When prompted to point to the partition where you'de like to install
2000, point to your current 2000 partition...I assume this would be C...(but
NOT necessary)!
7. Choose to format the partition, then follow the rest of the step...as
simple as that...
